Wood Canyon Comets "Read to Succeed"

Come and join our students celebrate reading during Literacy Week April 23rd-25th! Be a guest reader in your child's classroom or any WC classroom!

Sail Aboard our Membership! The PTA has been working on a goal of at least 200 memberships this year. At last count we were at 107. If you have not had the chance to submit your membership form, please fill it out and return it so we can meet our goals and help provide an enriching atmosphere for your child(ren). You may return completed forms to the front office or the teacher. Thank you for your support Mateys!

Water Bottle Wednesday ~ Two Trailers of Treasure: The goal of 2 trailers this year has set sail. The first week was a great turn out with at least 9 of the required sized bags filling the trailer. Bring your water bottles and soda cans to the front of the school or black top for drop off on Wednesdays. Each trailer equals approximately a $1,000.00 donation to the school and promotes recycling.

Spirit Wear Orders:Spirit Wear is here! We have received the last shipment of the school year. If you would like to purchase shirts or sweaters please fill out an order form and return it to your teacher. Order forms can be found in the Office. Thank you for your orders and showing your school pride!

Box Tops: This year we are looking to raise $1,500.00 with box tops. Turn yours in to your teacher or the box at the front office so they can be counted. There will be classroom parties for those with the most box tops. There will also be a raffles for child(ren) that return box tops (even if they return just one).

WOOD CANYON TEACHERS TEACH LIKE CHAMPIONS- A big shout out to the outstanding teachers at Wood Canyon. Our students made the largest growth on the STAR test than any other school in the district. We increased our AYP scores by 44 points, raising our score from 802 to 846. This is clearly the result of the fine teaching by our teachers as well as the excellent support they received from other WC staff and our parent community. It takes all of us working together to ensure that our students reach their potential. I am so proud of our students’ accomplishments. Congratulations to everyone!

Way to go Wood Canyon!

Together we collected 6,496 Box Tops. Congratulations to Mrs. Argent (Preschool winner), Mrs. Clark (K-2nd winner) and Mrs. Koutroulis (3rd-5th winner). Thank you to everyone that participated. Every student that turned in Box Tops, regardless of the amount is entered into an "End of the Year" drawing for a Family 4 Pack of Regal Cinema Theater Tickets. If you didn't turn any in, don't worry there's still time. Remember all it takes is 1 to be entered! There are two additional collection dates. Keep an eye out for the new collection sheets or download them from our forms tab.
